(SOLVED) HOW TO STOP LOSING PRESETS ON XTRONS UNITS

Postby xtrons » Fri Sep 10, 2021 3:30 pm

If the presets of your XTRONS are lost or reset every time you turn off the ignition switch, try the following steps to troubleshoot this issue:

1): Checking the wiring:
In most instances, this is caused by an incorrect cable connection. Check that your rear cables are properly connected:
Yellow Wire: has to be connected to the battery for constant battery voltage(12V)
Red Wire: has to be connected to the ignition switch of your car, If your ignition switch does not have an Accessory terminal connection, connect the RED wire to a source that is live at all times. (however, please check user manual or wiring diagram, these cables are inverted for certain cars).
For the unit which has a power cable with CANbus box:
In some cars, the original radios' canbus cantrolled, if you buy an XTRONS vehicle specific head unit, it normally comes equipped with the required CANbus box to decode the ignition signal. If there is something wrong with the CABbus box, the unit can’t be able to keep the memory. You can try to remove the CANbus box, splice the red wire and the yellow wire from the canbus connector, and rewire them in the way mentioned above, or contact us for a new CANbus box.
2):Hard reset the unit:
All the XTRONS head unit models offer a dedicated reset button or some procedure to factory-default settings.
Using the reset button:
Press the RESET button on the front panel using a pointed object, such as a ball-point pen.
Factory-default settings:
it's best to consult with XTRONS support team directly to understand the steps involved, which can differ depending on the brand and model.
Take XTRONS PSA/PST/PSP/MA/PSD series for instances:
settings -- Car infotainment -- about device -- click the setting icon at the right corner and input the PIN: 8888 or 8878, then click "ok" -- Erase All Content.

3): Remove all the external memory SD cards or USB sticks:
If you have inserted an SD card or USB stick to the head unit, please unplug them and format them on your PC before you connect them again to the unit.

4): Perform a MCU firmware update:
If the problem still persists, please update the MCU with these steps:
1. Contact XTRONS support for new MCU file. Make sure that the version of MCU firmware is suitable for your XTRONS model.

2. Download the MCU file to your computer.

3. Extract the contents of the file to the root of the memory card or USB.

4. Turn on the unit and insert the memory card or USB stick into the unit.

5. Go to the Settings for MCU update:
it's best to consult with XTRONS support team directly to understand the steps involved, which can differ depending on the brand and model.
Again, let’s take XTRONS PSA/PST/PSP/MA/PSD series for instance:
